Finals Week

June 2012

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As we approach the end of the Spring 2012 school term, I want to inform you of the special “Finals Week” schedule.  There are several purposes for this change in schedule:    

   

1.      To insure that no more than two finals exams on any given day

2.      To allow for 2 ½  hour blocks of time for each final exam  that will be similar to a Regents format

3.      To avoid two-part/two day finals

4.      To allow for specific blocks of time for Regents tutoring

5.      To allow for specific blocks of time for make-up physical education classes and science labs

Students will report to school according to the schedule below to take class final exams during the week of June 5^th to June 12^th, 2012. Student entry is at 8:47 am each morning.

Tutoring will take place EVERYDAY from 8:47 am – 9:21 am

Students will only attend two class periods each day according to the schedule above.  Physical Education and Science labs classes will officially end on Monday, June 4^th, 2012 in order to allow time for students to attend Regents tutoring, final exam tutoring, or to attend make-up gym classes or Science labs (See Science Lab Schedule Below).  (For example, if your child normally has lunch period 5or Physical Education period 6, they can attend make up gym classes or science labs.)

For those who have to make up “absences or unprepared” for their physical education class, the gym will be open each day for the morning and afternoon sessions.  Each session will be credited as 3 “prepared” Physical Education classes.

 If your child is absent for a final exam, please do the following:

1)     E-mail the teacher(s) utilizing https://pupilpath.skedula.com

2)     Provide medical documentation in order to reschedule exam.  The teacher will work out a time for

             your child to make-up their final exam.

Make-up exams will be administered only to students who submit medical documentation for their absence.
